Coconut is among India's favorite ingredients. It’s especially popular in the south of the country and is also full of health benefits, like being packed with nutrients and being full of antioxidants, having antibacterial effects, and controlling blood sugar, since it's high in fiber and low in calories.

For the Recipe

  • Desiccated Coconut – 2 Cups
  • Honey or Maple Syrup – 2 Tablespoon
  • Coconut Oil – 2 Tablespoon
  • Vanilla Essence – 1 Teaspoon
  • Cadbury Bournville 50% Dark Chocolate – 2/3 Cups

Directions

steps-1
01

Pulse the coconut in a blender or food processor until the texture becomes like thick flour. Transfer to a bowl and add the honey or maple syrup, coconut oil, and vanilla. Stir until a thick paste forms.

steps-2
02

Once the desired texture is achieved, scoop out with spoon and put in the silicon mould of your desired shape as it is difficult to roll it into shape by hand. Let it set in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or until firm.

steps-3
03

Melt the chocolate slowly and gently until smooth using double boiler.

steps-4
04

Lay out a sheet of wax paper/ baking paper. Using two forks, roll each piece in the chocolate until completely covered. Scoop it out with the fork and let the extra chocolate drip off the fork. Gently nudge the chocolate covered ball onto wax paper and chill until the chocolate has hardened. Store in the refrigerator.

TIPS TO KEEP IN MIND:
It is very important to use coconut oil because other oils will not harden like coconut oil, and that hardening is what holds the shape together.
